Lead alloy metal working waste of unknown date, probably post 1300 AD. The artefact consists of a lead plug from the top of a mould. Only a small fragment survives. It is irregular in plan with two sub-circular projections / jets present on the lower face. The two projections, although corroded and abraded show signs of the lower edges being clipped or trimmed, presumably to remove the cast object. Survival of artefacts similar to this is rare, mainly due to the nature of manufacture, with the waste being recycled shortly after production. A direct parallel has not been found.
The waste measures 26.6mm length, 10.8mm width, is 10.5mm thick and weighs 8.11 grams.
