Medieval copper alloy mount? 28mm long, 9mm wide and 4mm thick. The object is in good condition and weighs 3.26grams. The object consists of a curved, sub-rectangular shaft (semi-circular with a flat underside) which terminates in a stylised animal head? which in turn sits above a semi-circular 'clip' whose internal surface is covered with iron staining. The 'animal head' consists of a raised collar sitting behind two stepped triangular forms which are decorated with a series of diagonal lines. The decoration is similar to buckle terminals but the alignment of the semi-circular clip suggests another function.
