A fragment from the wall of a pottery vessel, possibly Roman colour coated ware, dating from 200-400AD. The matrix is orange in colour and fine-grained, with no obvious inclusions. Both inner and outer surfaces have a matt black coating; on one side, patches have worn away to reveal the matrix beneath. The fragment is 29.6mm long, 24.8mm wide and 5.5mm thick. It weighs 4.03gm.
