A broken and incomplete cast copper-alloy hooked tag (dress hook) of post-medieval date. The mount conforms to Read's Class ? tags. It has a rectangular attachment loop at one end (broken), and to the right of this, at the top and bottom there are incomplete circular attachment loops. The central plate of the tag is broadly oval with a sub-rectangular projecting knop in the centre at the top and bottom. The hook, which would have been situated at the right end of the tag, is now broken and missing. The central plate contains a moulded device, which appears to depict a central face, perhaps with a face either side of it looking towards it. This moulded device is set within a double oval border. The reverse is undecorated. It measures 33.51 mm long, 20.14 mm wide, 1.71 mm thick and weighs 3.4 grams. The tag has a purple/brown patina. It is likely to have been gilded originally, although no traces of this now survive.
