An incomplete cast copper alloy badge with a floral motif, of Post Medieval dating (17th to 18th Centuries AD).

The badge is irregular in plan and cross section. The badge is openwork in design, with a central flower design. Two petals of which are present. Each petal has two layers - a top petal and a bottom petal and are convex (domed) in nature. The tips of the petal touch the outer circular rim. From the curvature of the outer rim, it would originally have an a diameter of 5 cm, with 25% of the rim surviving. The back shows the reverse of the design, with a central concavity.

Overall the badge is mid to dark green in colour. The patina has been abraded from the upper raised areas, leaving it a mid brown colour. Small areas of surviving solid patina are present in the depressions on the back of the petals.

It measures 35.56mm in length, 17.74mm wide and 2.94mm thick. It weighs 3.2 grams.

A direct parallel has not yet been found for this badge, but as it has been cast as opposed to machine pressed, it probably is of Post Medieval dating, 17th to 18th Centuries AD.
