A Roman Republican silver plated contemporary copy of a denarius of Mark Antony (M Antonius) (died 30BC); ANTONVS / AVG IMP II; Travelling Mint, 33BC. RRC cf. 542/2. Obverse: ...IMP - III...; Head of Mark Antony right. Reverse: ANTONVS / AVG IMP II.

Notes:

This copy does not copy the inscriptions accurately. On the obverse, the inscription has been much abbreviated from the original ANTON AVG IMP III COS DES III III V R P C; The reverse has ANTONVS for ANTONIVS and II for III. It is an interesting coin because the prototype is not common with only 30 obverse and 33 reverse dies recorded.
