A cast copper alloy Post-Medieval dress fastener. It is the eye piece of a two-part fastener. It is a Read Early post-medieval class A type 8 example. The fastener has a central oval panel with moulded foliate decoration encircled by a line of beading. It has two ornamental side knops, and three attachment loops. One of these protrudes from one end and has a rounded collar. The other two attachment loops flank the opposite terminal which finishes with a rectangular 'eye' loop.
The fastener measures 39mm in length, 22.36mm in width and weighs 5.35g. A similar fastener (a hooked piece) is illustarted in Read 2008, no.663 .
