Incomplete cast copper alloy post Medieval shoe or knee buckle. The frame, which is drilled for a separate but now missing spindle, is sub-annular in shape with moulded transverse grooves running the whole circumference of the frame except at the two points where the spindle would attach which are each decorated with single raised plain knop.
Frames of this type are dated c.1660-1720.
