An incomplete lead pilgrim's ampulla. The ampulla is pouch-shaped with triangular suspension rings at the base of the neck. One suspension ring is intact, the other is missing.
One side of the chamber is decorated with a reversed letter S with a crown above in the centre of a checkerboard field. The S has a pellet centre and seriphed ends. Above this is a rope-patterned, horizontal band which also extends around the complete outer edge of the pouch . The other side of the pouch has a scallop-shell design with the same rope-pattern in a horizontal band above.
The pouch of the ampulla has been pierced with a triangular entry hole on the reverse and a circular exit hole on the obverse, probably made with a knife-point.
