An Irish 'gun money' shilling of James II, dated 1690 (month unclear).
Gun money coins were made issued during the Irish Williamite war of 1689-1691. The coins were made from old cannon balls and other scrap metal. James II intended to exchange these coins for silver when he reclaimed the throne, but this never happened.
