Cast copper alloy strap end length 30mm, width 7mm, thickness 5mm weight 3.03g.
Rectangular shape, the terminal has an animal facemask, this is decorated with an incised rectangle panel that has a narrow waist either side of the narrowed waist is a recessed crescent with a raised centre that would represent eyes, behind the rectangular panel are two circles with crescents in the centre for ears.
The main decorating consists of a decorated rectangular panel containing a set of three diminishing chevrons at either end which point towards the centre. In the centre are two human figures seen in profile, their legs are bent at such an angle as to suggest they are seated and their arms are outstretched towards each other. The rear has an incised semicircular line with contains a single chevron in the centre
The attachment end is slotted and has two rivet holes for the strap, both of the rivet holes are encrusted in iron corrosion.
Mid green patina with almost its entire original surface remaining.
All of the decoration is in the trewhiddle style.
This is a Thomas class A type 3, which dates it to the 9th to early 10th century
