Cast lead vessel repair (pot mend). It is roughly oval in plan and H-shaped in section with two irregularly shaped outer sides, one larger than the other, joined by a smaller central section. In the groove created between the outer sides there are fragment of the original pot. The pottery has a bright orange fabric with common (c.20%) coarse sand temper. It is 42.5 mm by 39.2mm, 9.3 mm thick and weighs 81.7 g.

Pot mends of this form are found in both Roman and Medieval periods, as a common way to repair broken pottery. The fabric appears similar to Medieval cooking pots although it is too fragmentary to be completely certain.
