A copper-alloy frame from a Medieval (probably 13th to 14th century) single-loop buckle.
The frame is rectangular in plan, the width being significantly greater than the length. The axis bar is flattened-oval in section and has, at a narrower central 'waist', adhering iron corrosion from the otherwise missing pin. The other sides are wider, of thin section and have flat surfaces. The decoration on the upper surface consists of a line of punched ring-and-dot marks between two lines of intermittent, irregular rocker-arm decoration. The frame has a dark green patina and little corrosion. It measures 16.7mm long, 37.5mm wide and 2mm thick. It weighs 5.7g.
