An incomplete socketed axe of Late Bronze Age date. The blade end and part of the socket survive intact, the remainder of the object now missing due to old breaks. The axe is relatively small in size, triangular in profile and with a crescentic blade that expands slightly beyond the sides of the axe. It has the remains of an oval shaped socket that is positioned slightly closer to one face of the axe than the other, giving the axe one thinner side. The remains of casting seams are visible down both sides of the object. All the exterior surfaces show signs of post-depositional wear, areas of corrosion, and have a pitted dark green patina. This axe fragment measures 25.57mm in length, 36.03mm in width at blade, 23.23mm in width at socket end, 11.54mm in thickness at socket end, and weighs 55.63g. This axe fragment is of Late Bronze Age date, c.1150-800 BC.
