An incomplete copper-alloy early Anglo-Saxon sleeve or wrist clasp dating from the 6th century, probably of Hines Form B18c. It is a catch piece and consists of a broken rectangular loop projecting from the centre of the front edge of a wide longitudinal raised bar. The bar is decorated with areas of transverse ridges and grooves at either end of the loop, and raised square areas at the ends. In the centre is a rectangular area which has a raised border and an S shaped motif in the centre. This is similar to dragonesque brooches, or S shaped snake belt fittings. On the other side of the bar project three sub circular panels. These do not appear to have been decorated. They are linked to each other by a narrow struts, leaving an oval perforations between the struts and the raised bar. These perforations may have acted as sewing loops. The sleeve clasp has a dark green patina. A matching example has been found in the same field: SWYOR-BA9313.
