A cast copper-alloy side knob from an Anglo-Saxon Florid cruciform brooch. It is flat with a spatulate terminal, flanked by two panels of intricate stylised mouldings in Style I. The design can be interpreted with the spatulate area projecting from mouth of a hman face. The nose is angular and raised. The cheeks and eyes are convex mouldins and there are interlaced ribbons which could represent a beard and moustache. On the reverse are traces of two broken lugs to support the pin axis bar. The knob has a brown colour, and little patina surviving. It dates to the 6th century, about 500-600 AD.
