A corroded and incomplete cast copper-alloy umbonate quatrefoil mount of medieval date, probably from a book. The mount has four semi-circular lobes each with a rivet hole; on two the edge of the mount beyond the hole has worn through; for all, the rivet has been lost. There is a slight ridge between each lobe and the dome. The central dome is rounded, convex and hollow. There is no obvious decoration. The mount has corroded to a mottled brown to green colour.
A parallel can be found illustrated in Read (2001, 16; ref. 118) for which a c. 14th-century date is suggested as is a possible function as a book mount.
