Fragment of a cast copper alloy single-loop oval buckle frame with an ornate outer edge consisting of five raised sections divided by four transverse raised borders and terminating in two lobed knops. The central section has been worn where there was originally a notch for the pin to rest in. Most of the frame is missing, and the strap bar, which would have probably been narrowed and offset, and may have held a metal plate as well as the pin, now missing.
Whitehead (1996) illustrates a similar example on page 22, No.97, which is dated from c.1250-1400.
