A cast copper-alloy key (locking) of the Medieval period, c. 1150-1350.
The key is in two parts, with a hollow shank and a rectangular bit with simple notched clefts emerging from the underside of the shank. The bow is incomplete, but may have been lozenge-shaped, with a moulded collar at the base of the bow. Comparison with examples excavated in London suggest a date of 12th-14th century.
