A cast copper alloy Roman brooch of Colchester two-piece type. 1st century AD.
Short wings, 11.5mm wide and 3mm deep, with a slightly concave reverse. A lug extends from the central upper portion of the wings and curls backwards to hold the spring in place. The bow is almost circular in section with a slightly flattened back. The bow tapers to a sharp point. A small catchplate is broken but extended 9mm up the back of the bow from the tip. 6 turms of the spring are visible.
