A complete cast copper alloy late Medieval mount.
A rounded head sits atop a tab at the lower end, possibly representing a stylised animal or shell form. The top section is decorated with incised cross-hatch lines. The lower section is decorated with incised horizontal lines. The rivet is set slightly off centre on the back.
The mount has a grey-black patina with the incised lines showing through as light brown colour.
Parallels are known from a late Medieval context on the North Wirral coast (Egan, Griffiths and Philpott 2007, fig no.s 1131, 1138, 1139).
