A fragment of a Bronze Age cast copper alloy socketed axehead (c. 1000 BC-c. 800 BC). The fragment is the lower part of the flaring blade. The cutting edge curves evenly and the break at the top is old. This implement has a shiny greenish brown patina. However, the surfaces are pitted and the scuffs and scratches are old. There is no evidence for re-sharpening. Height 29.8mm; width: 62.6mm; thickness: 11.9mm. Weight: 69.54. It is possible that the blade may belong to a palstave in which case, its date would range from the Middle Bronze Age to the Late Bronze Age.
