Medieval or Post Medieval cast copper alloy pot leg, 1200-1700 AD. The leg is trapezoid in section with a wider front than back and a central raised rib running down the front. It has an old irregular break at the upper end. The leg widens outwards at the base to create the plain trapezoid foot, the leg rose form this at an angle of c.75 degrees. It is 23.9mm long, 50.1mm wide, 30.9mm thick; it weighs 121 grams.

Notes:

Crudely made cast copper alloy vessels were widely used from c.1200-1700 for serving and cooking. Butler et al (2009:4) suggest there were four main types of leg used. This is an example of type A which they suggest was widespread in the Medieval period with some examples continuing into the early 17th century.
