A large basal sherd from a pottery jar of late Iron Age date. The sherd is round-bottomed and retains a short separately-attached outwardly-flaring footring c0.58mm in diameter. The fabric is finely sand-tempered but with occasional much larger inclusions, possibly of ironstone. Half the surviving exterior face is reduced in the kiln to dark grey while the remainder is oxidisd orange/buff. The interior is oxidised.
