A Neolithic Axe/Adze Roughout, measuring 155 x 75 x 29mm. It has been made on a thin oval tabular nodule of brownish grey flint, with areas of weathered cortex on both faces. The roughout has been prepared by bifacial shallow flaking around the whole perimeter. In profile it is curved, with a boss of flint protruding from the convex face, perhaps preventing further flaking and leading to its abandonment. After further shaping, it would probably be finished by grinding and polishing. It dates from 4000-2300 BC.
