A corroded cast lead object: possibly a gaming piece of medieval date, possibly a weight. It is broadly rectangular in plan, with a main section of rectangular form; at the base a skirt has formed, perhaps an overspill of the moulding, of varying width around the base. On the upper surface there are prominent projections in each corner, and one in the centre. Those at the corners are joined to those at the centre by a moulded ridges arranged in a saltire cross. The central projection is even higher than those at the corners and has been bent over slightly. Gaming pieces are illustrated in Mills (2001, 87), although the attribution is tentative.
