A cast copper alloy horse head buckle, dating to the late Roman period, 4th - 5th Century. Only the upper part of the buckle frame survives due to a break. The upper part of the frame is formed from a rounded curve (following the D-shape of a complete frame), the breaks have occurred at the point where the frame curves into the sides. Just above each break is the stylised horse head. Each one facing outwards, neither are decorated. There is a trefoil crest centred between the two heads. The metal is smooth and has a mid brownish-green colour. The breaks are worn. Similar examples can be seen in Appels and Laycock, p206.
