A worked stone hub probably from a toy wheel, probably of Post Medieval to Modern dating (16th to 19th Centuries AD).

The hub is sub circular in plan, and sub rectangular in cross section. It has been made from a fine grained mica rich sandstone. It has a central drilled perforation (hole) through the centre of the object, with an internal diameter of 6.19mm. There are a total of eight drilled impressions, regularly spaced around the edge of the object. It has been suggested that these would have been the sockets for the spokes of the wheel. The internal diameter of these impressions is approximately 6.4mm.

The hub measures 27.61mm in diameter and is 18.95mm thick. It weighs 19.1 grams.

No parallels have yet been found for this item but it is probably of Post Medieval to Modern dating (16th to 19th Centuries AD).
