Incomplete cast copper alloy T-shaped brooch dating to the Roman period. The object is a hinged t-shaped brooch with a toothed edge. The wings are semi-cylindrical and contain a large oval perforation at each end. The head is rounded and is decorated with a circular headstud which is infilled with red enamel. Below this the bow is decorated with a panel of triangle-and-lozenge decoration. These would have also been infilled with red enamel which remains in a couple of the cells. The edges of the bow are toothed. The bow has been bent forward and terminates in a break. The object has a brassy patina and is slightly pitted. It can be dated from the late 1st to the mid-2nd century. Similar examples can be found in Hattatt, p304, (2000).
