Medieval gilt copper-alloy swivel mount, 41 mm long, 8 mm wide and 7 mm thick. The object is in fair condition with a weight of 5.85grams. The object is rectangular in form and section and is almost complete. It consists of a central circular collar, 8 mm high, which would have held formed one have of the swivel mechanism. On either side of this the bar consists of ornate U shaped sections with serif like terminals. There are two complete sections on one side, which seems to be the complete length of the object, and one and half on the other. The object has traces of gilding all over its surface.
It can be compared with DENO-457032 on this database.

I don't know what this object is, but I feel it is most unlikely to be a purse bar as the ood extensions on the bar have no function. I would suggest classifying it as a swivel fitting and probably of 12-13th century date.
