A medieval lead alloy seal matrix. The matrix is circular and has a central design of an eight-petalled flower surrounded by a narrow groove and the legend. With the exception of the letters FIL, meaning 'son of', the legend is indecipherable, mainly because the matrix has been bent in hlaf and then straightened again, causing damage to the middle. There is a short, rectangular projection from the outer edge, which is now broken and was probably for a suspension loop. The matrix is 33.2mm long, 26.9mm wide and 3.4mm thick. It weighs 11.15gm.
