UNIDENTIFIED OBJECT

Unique ID: SF-D0ABB4

Object type certainty: Certain
Workflow status: Awaiting validation Find awaiting validation

A fragment of copper alloy, possibly from an Anglo-Saxon brooch. It has been burnt and has sandy accretions adhering to its surface. It is rectangular and curved, and might be a fragment from the bow of a brooch. Some decoration which may be part of a transverse rib, can be detected. The fragment measures 12.24mm in length, 22.72mm in width and weighs 3.86g.

The fragment is too insubstantial to be identified, but is recorded as other cremated fragments of Anglo-Saxon date are know from the area where this piece was found.
