An incomplete Roman cast, copper-alloy lugged disc brooch, flat with peripheral lugs c.100-200AD. The plate is circular and there were six equally spaced peripheral lugs, of which only four remain. The centre of the face has a circular indentation where enamelling may have been present. The outer circle of the face was gilded in white metal. The reverse shows the catchplate and the hinge. The pin is missing. A similar item can be seen in Hattatt's visual catalogue p.345 no.1563. Diameter of 23.6mm, thickness of 1.0mm and weighs 3.40g.
