An incomplete Roman cast, copper-alloy equal-armed/ended brooch c.100-200AD. The central panel is diamond in shape and has extended knops at the top and bottom corners. These knops are stepped back from the face of the plate. At the centre of the diamond is a circular recessed area. The brooch had been enamelled. The reverse has the catchplate and hinge but the pin is missing. Similar to an item in Hattatt's visual catalogue p.353 no.561. Length of 38.6mm, width of 20.5mm and thickness of 1.7mm. weighs 3.80g.
