This is a late Medieval - early Post Medieval copper alloy pin dating 1480-1550. The head consists of two dished sheet discs soldered together. The top one is decorated with a field of multiple pellets equidistant in a grid pattern. The head is then soldered onto the shaft. The head is bent at an angle towards the shaft.

Egan (2005:51) illustrates an almost identical pin that has come from a context dated 1480-1550. Egan notes this seems to have been the standard design for large, decorative pins at this period.

Dimensions: diameter of head: 8.47mm; length: 57.32mm; weight: 1.37g.
