These sherds form part of a collection of 60 sherds of Roman and Medieval pottery that was submitted for identification in November 2009. These reports detail the finds and fabrics and where possible, dates and wares.
The base of 'butt beaker' made from a fine and hard creamy buff ware. The vessel would have been barrel shaped and decorated with rouletting and grooving. Originally a Gallo-Belgic import they were manufactured and copied in Britain. Creamy ware, source unknown. AD 60's
Notes:
The assemblage is from a pasture field close to the River Thame, and was discovered during groundworks.
