Post medieval (later 17th century to 18th century) cast copper alloy vessel leg and foot. The leg is trapezoid in section with a wider front than back and a central raised rib running down the front. It has an old irregular break at the upper end. The leg widens outwards at the base slightly to create the plain trapezoid foot. The foot does not have a flat base but the leg would have rested at 70 to 45 degrees. It is 58.3mm long, 47mm wide and 21.9mm thick; it weighs 231 grams.
The very rough surface suggests this piece was sand cast, a technique introduced in the late 17th century (Butler et al 2009:7).
