A Late Saxon/medieval sub-circular mount with a flat back and two drilled holes for attachment. In the centre, an integrally cast boss surrounded by a ring of pellets in relief depicts an equal-armed cross. The concave-sided arms are filled with six pellets in counter relief. The rather irregular shape and the fact that the holes are misaligned with the cross suggest either that the mount has been adapted from a larger object or that it was an experimental casting from a mould intended for some other use. Its diameter is 22 - 23.5mm, with a thickness of 1.2mm, 3.5mm at the boss. The hole is of diameter 10.5mm. The mount perhaps dates from the 10th-12th century.
