An incomplete cast copper alloy Roman brooch. The wings were originally tubular, but the outer face is abraded. Both terminals of the wings are abraded, but one may have a trace of an original edge suggesting it did not have wing caps. The pin, axis bar and spring is missing. The bow head is slightly hump-like in profile with a rounded triangular section before tapering towards the bow which is has a slender elongated oval section. Only a small portion of the bow remains before it is broken. The break is not recent. The bow head and bow is undecorated. The brooch has an abraded surface with traces of a blue/green patina. It measures 17.44mm long, 20.24mm wide and weighs 2.6g.
The brooch is a Colchester-derivative, but the type cannot be classified further with certainty. The brooch probably dates to the late first to second centuries.
