UNIDENTIFIED OBJECT

Unique ID: YORYM-981713

Object type certainty: Certain
Workflow status: Awaiting validation Find awaiting validation

A cast copper alloy unidentified object of uncertain function. The object resembles a heavy-duty Roman pin, but the head and shaft are unusually shaped so the object remains unidentified. The head is cuboid in shape, tapering inwards slightly to the top and the top corners have been cut off. Extending from behind the head is the shaft. It is narrow at the top and extends into a wide terminal, with a bulbous terminal proper. The metal is a heavily pitted, mid reddish-brown colour. There has been some discussion on the PAS staff forum about these objects and it has been suggested that they are modern coat hooks.
