Circumstances of Discovery
Found in April 2008 during archaeological excavation on the site of Former sports field, Snodland prior to development, at a depth of approximately 0.2m. The find was recovered by hand from a single context containing large quantities of pottery and ceramic building material, interpreted as a demolition deposit.
Description of Find
A Roman silver finger ring with a plain, D shaped hoop, slightly misshapen, and a flat sub-rectangular bezel which expands beyond the edge of the hoop on one side, this part separated from the rest of the bezel by an engraved line, above which are to centrally placed circular indentations. The hoop measures: Internal 16.95 x 13.74mm; external 19.05 x 16.41mm; thickness 0.86mm. The bezel measures: 11.31 x 8.21mm; thickness 1.57mm. Weight 2g
