A copper alloy belt mount of Late Medieval to Post Medieval date. The mount is rectangular and made of two separate plates, which are joined by having two rivet holes near both short terminals, and one rivet hole in the centre. Two dome-headed rivets are in situ linking the plates at one terminal. The opposite terminal is incomplete but appears to have had one, and possibly two, small looped extensions. These terminals are incomplete due to old breaks, and both the mounts are bent in half with a groove almost splitting the outer plate, probably as the result of plough damage. There are circular patches of gilding around the rivet holes but no other decoration is visible. The backing mount is smaller than the outer one, with no gilding or decoration The outer plate measures 48.09mm (estimated, straightened length), and 20.84mm in width. The inner plate measures 47.59mm in (estimated, straightened) length, and 13.65mm in width. The mount weighs 8.57g.
The looped extensions may have held decorative pendants , and the mount may have been used as a belt strengthener. (Margeson 1993, fig22, nos 264-5).
