Copper alloy jetton. Hammered. Jetton from an issue known as Stock jettons of Tounai, issued circa 1415-1497. According to Mitchiner, "The town of Tournai began exploiting the mass market for stock jettons when Royal authority was at a low ebb during the last years of Charles VI" (page 215).
This particular jetton was part of the sixth issue - a 'Sheild of france' jetton.
Obverse: sheild of France containing three complete lis. Often with a small crown of helmet abive the sheild. + MARIA GRACIA PLENA II
Reverse: Triple stranded straight cross fleuretty in four-arched tressure. = - A - V - E in external angles.
Pierced from the reverse at 7 o'clock.
