A complete flint Acheulian handaxe of stained orange-brown/white patina dating to the Lower Palaeolithic. The axe is elongated cordate in form and asymmetrical. The butt is U shaped and the tip is pointed. It has straight, slightly battered edges including some fresher unpatined breaks around the tip and one on the butt. It is covered by removals which have been well smoothed by water action. The highpoint on each face is slightly off centre and as such the bevelling is steeper on one side than the other. The underlying flint is a pale yellow brown.
