A cast copper-alloy open-topped thimble or sewing ring of probable later Medieval to Post-Medieval date. It has an undecorated and slightly thickened rim above which are three rows of unevenly spaced circular punched indentations. These terminate with a slightly thickened and undecorated top edge of the thimble. It measures 7.90mm in height, 20.01mm in external diameter at the base, 18.09mm in external diameter at top, 1.88mm in thickness, and weighs 5.65g. The use of a thimble with an open top suggests a date range in the 15th to 16th centuries AD (see Holmes, 1988).
