A cast, copper alloy artefact, probably a strap end, dating from 1500-1700AD. It is sub-rectangular in shape, tapering slightly towards one end where it is decorated on each side with a shallow, v-shaped notch followed by a semi-circular cut-out. The centre of this narrower end would have been trifoliate but the middle projection is missing. The broader end is decorated with two shallow, semi-circular cut-outs. A broad, central groove runs down the full length of the artefact. There are two rivet holes in this central groove; one just below the broader edge, which contains the remains of an iron rivet, and one a little over halfway along which is empty. The artefact has a dark brown patina. It is 37.9mm long, 18.8mm wide and 1.5mm thick. It weighs 4.07gm.
