Cast lead alloy weight with integrally cast loop of probable medieval or post medieval date (1250 - 1700). The weight is broadly sub-rectangular in both plan and cross section. The loop is complete and the whole is somewhat elliptical probably through wear (diameter 3.7mm). Along one edge of the weight a clear seam is present; when the base is viewed it is clear that this weight has been formed by rolling thick sheet and then piercing the top. A clear spiral of metal can be seen at the base. There seems to be no decoration present. The weight is a mid grey cream colour with a good relatively unabraded patina. Where abrasion has occurred this has revealed the grey metal beneath. There is no evidence of corrosion products.
The weight measures 39.7mm length, 15.7mm wide, is 14.9mm thick and weights 45.57 grams (703 grains, 1.60 ozs).
