Struck/hammered cu-alloy French medieval jetton, dating from the medieval period, that is circa 1400-1600. Made from copper alloy, the obverse looks to be a shield made up of three rope-like lines attatched to a fleur de lis at the base, with three fleur de lis' in the middle. There may be a legend around the edge, with more fleur de lis' but this is badly worn. On the reverse side there is an intricate cross fleury design with fleur de lis attached to the ends of the lines, a four lefted floral shape in the middle and around the outside of the cross.
It is very basic, so probably a Tournai stock jetton of the shield of France (ancient) series. Mitchiner (p. 228) 695ff. have letters in the angles on the reverse but nothing quite like this ?single-stranded cross fleuretty.
