A post-medieval cast one piece copper-alloy button with an integral drilled shank. The button is sub-discoidal in shape with a convex front and a flat back. It is decorated with a central moulded pellet surrounded by an eight bladed impeller. The shank is rectangular in section and is sub-lozenge shaped. It measures 13.7 mm in diameter and the shank measures 10 mm in length. It weighs 3.5 grams. A very similar example is illustrated in Read's 'Metal Buttons: c.900 BC - c.AD 1700' (2005, 33; number 112), which was recovered from a 16th century context, but which may be as early as late 15th century in date.
