Part of an iron hammer/trigger mechansim for a flintlock pistol, corroded but still recognisable. English Civil War period (AD 1642-1651).
Notes:
This pistol trigger was found under 1000m to the east of Newbury Battlefield, the site of a Civil War battle fought in 1643. It is likely that this pistol trigger dates to this battle. Pistols were often carried by the cavalry.
